About This Course

At the end of this course you will have knowledge of what Snort is, what it is used for, features and more. You will also understand how to install, configure and use this intrusion prevention and detection system.

Requirements

Students are expected to have the fundamentals understanding about IT, covering the following:

  • Understanding of computer components, memory, disk space, CPU, among others.
  • Understanding of how to install/uninstall a Windows and Linux operating system.
  • Basic understanding of how to use virtualization environments like VMware.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental network protocols like ICMP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP.
  • Understanding of different numeral systems like binary, decimal and hexadecimal numbers.
  • Strong understanding of the TCP/IP and OSI model.
  • Ability to convert between numeral systems.
  • Basic knowledge about network devices, router, switches, hub.
